BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 3 UCLA women’s tennis team dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker to No. 17 California in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon at Hellman Tennis Complex.
The Bruins (5-2) could not seize the doubles point and had an uphill battle from there. They were able to claim leads at 2-1 and 3-2, but dropped each of the remaining contests in three sets. Jada Bui of the Golden Bears (5-1) clinched the match on Court 4. Abbey Forbes, Jada Hart and Sasha Vagramov logged singles wins for UCLA.

No. 113 Vagramov, who dug an early hole against Anna Bright, came back to force a first-set tiebreaker on Court 6. Not only would the Bruin prevail there, but she took control of the second set for a 7-6(6), 6-1 victory. Vagramov has won each of her first two singles matches this season.
The third-set affairs on Courts 3 and 4 ultimately belonged to the Golden Bears, beginning with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win by No. 26 Ivanov over Wolff on 3. Bui would close out Altick soon after, 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-3, to seal the overall win.
