CARMEL, Ind. – The IUPUI women’s golf team will cap the regular season this week when the Jaguars host the Lady Jaguar Invitational at Plum Creek in Carmel. Head coach Jamie Broce‘s team is coming off an impressive win at NKU’s The Julie to close the month of March and are making final preparations for the upcoming Horizon League Championships. 

The Jags lineup is keyed by Amelie Svejda, who has earned top-10 finishes in each of her three entries and boasts a 74.38 scoring average. She’s defeated 94 percent of her opponents this season and boasts a streak of nine straight top-10 finishes. 

Behind her, freshman Shelby Busker has been a rock with a 76.63 scoring average in eight rounds while Kara Blair has a 76.75 stroke average for the year. Blair is coming off her fourth career top-10 finish at Northern Kentucky. Freshman Madeleine Pape has also become a fixture in the IUPUI lineup with a 78.00 stroke average over eight rounds this season. 

As tournament host, Broce will get a full look at all nine players on his roster in an effort to pare down the group for the Horizon League Golf Championships later this month. 

FORMAT: The event will be a 6-count-4 format with teams scheduled for 18 holes on Monday (Apr. 12) and Tuesday (Apr. 13).   

THE COURSE: Plum Creek is a Pete Dye design located just north of Indianapolis and former site of some prestigious events. The layout features strategically placed bunkers, undulating greens and multiple water features and is a perfect example of modern golf architecture. The course is a past site of the 2008 and 2009 Horizon League Championships, the 2004 IWGA Mid-Amateur, 2003 Indiana Open, 2002 IGA Match Play Championship, 2000 Club Professionals Championship and 1998 Indianapolis Open. 

THE FIELD: In addition to the IUPUI squad, the field will consist of Butler, Cleveland State, Northern Kentucky and Purdue Fort Wayne. 

RANKINGS: IUPUI is currently ranked No. 149 nationally according to Golfstat and No. 173 nationally by Golfweek.

LAST TIME OUT: IUPUI is coming off a 17-shot win at NKU’s The Julie after carding rounds of 299 and 301 at Lassing Pointe in Prospect, Ky. Blair and Svejda led the way at 3-over 147, finishing tied for second among the 38-player field. Busker also earned a top-10 finish at 151 (76-75), placing fifth overall. 

UP NEXT: IUPUI will look to win a third straight Horizon League title when the Jaguars participate in the Horizon League Championships in West Lafayette, Ind., on Apr. 25-27.
