CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University women’s golf team will travel to North Carolina to play in the 2021 River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C., at the River Landing Golf Course Monday-Tuesday, March 8-9.
UNC Wilmington will play host to the Classic as 13 teams will face off on a par-72, 5,960 yard layout. The two-day event will feature 36 holes of play on Monday and a final 18 holes Tuesday with play beginning at 8:45 a.m. on Monday and a 9 a.m. modified shotgun start Tuesday.
The event will feature 13 solid teams led by the host Seahawks. Joining the Chanticleers and UNCW are Charleston Southern, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Elon, Florida Atlantic, High Point, James Madison, Marshall, North Carolina A&T, Richmond, and Rutgers.
The Chants will be looking to improve on their performance in last week’s Florida State Match-up. While the opening day saw the Chants in third place, the second and third round saw the Chanticleers fall to an 11th place finish.
Freshman Nicole Abelar has been solid in her first three tournaments as a member of the Chants. She has a second-place finish this season and finished tied for 17th at last week’s FSU Match-up.
Along with Abelar, other Chants playing in the event are Sophia Carlsen, Tiffany Arafi, Caitlin Evans-Brand, and Frantiska Lunackova.
