This will be just the fourth meeting between the two programs. The earliest, in March 1982, was the opening round of the AIAW Southern Region Tournament. EKU edged out the Mocs 79-75. The two have split each of the last two meetings.
UTC fell 71-65 to the Colonels last year in Richmond. After a slow start for UTC, the Mocs made a game of it, taking the lead in the second half. However, it bounced back-and-forth and EKU held on for the win.
The Mocs are 2-3 and looking strong in offensive effort. UTC has topped 70 points in three of its five games and erased a 20-point deficit Tuesday night at Austin Peay for a 65-64 win at the buzzer. UTC has five players averaging seven or more points per game with Bria Dial (11.2) and Eboni Williams (11.0) leading the team. The Mocs are shooting 42.3 percent from the field and 32.7 from beyond the arc. Abbey Cornelius, with a monster rebounding night against Vanderbilt, leads the team with 8.6 boards per game and 13 blocked shots.
The Colonels opened the season against 15th-ranked Indiana on the road and followed with a matchup against No. 5 Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center, falling to both. However, EKU bounced back with a sweep of OVC foe Morehead State for a 2-2 overall mark. Alice Recanati leads the team with 11.3 points  and 5.0 rebounds per game. Kendall Wingler is averaging 9.5 points over four games and Jayla Johnson has chipped in 9.0 through two games. The Colonels average 58.2 points per game and are shooting 31.4% while making 24-of-93 from beyond the arc.
