Wisconsin Badgers basketball recruiting: rankings updates

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

  • The Rivals 150 rankings for the class of 2021 was updated earlier this week and all three Wisconsin Badgers commits moved up a bit! All three are high 3-stars.

No. 119, PF Matthew Mors (Yankton, S.D.) moved up eight spots
No. 124, PG Chucky Hepburn (Bellevue, Neb.) moved up five spots
No. 129, PF Chris Hodges (Schaumburg, Ill.) moved up eight spots

The Badgers have the No. 39 class in the country, and No. 5 in the Big Ten, according to the Rivals team rankings. Michigan (No. 1 overall), Michigan State (No. 10), Purdue (No. 22) and Nebraska (No. 27) are all ahead of the Badgers in conference. Ohio State (No. 40) and Northwestern (No. 42) are hot on Wisconsin’s heels.

Four of the top seven players in the class of 2021 are still unsigned including No. 1 Chet Holmgren (Minneapolis, Minn.), No. 2 Jaden Hardy (Henderson, Nev.), No. 4 Patrick Baldwin, Jr. (Sussex) and No. 7 Hunter Sallis (Omaha, Neb.). Wisconsin has offers out to Baldwin and Sallis but neither are still considering UW.

Wisconsin could still take another player in the 2021 class but there has been very limited action on the recruiting trail for Greg Gard recently and it would appear that they’ll roll the scholarship over to 2022.
