Wayne Pivac resists changes against Italy with grand slam in sight | Sport

Wales may have sprung a surprise by naming their side to play Italy two days ahead of schedule, but there were few shocks in the starting XV itself, with only two changes from the side that beat England in Cardiff.

The scrum half Kieran Hardy pulled a hamstring against England so, with Tomos Williams still recovering from the hamstring injury he suffered in the opening match against Ireland, Gareth Davies starts in Rome on Saturday with Lloyd Williams on the bench.

At lock, Adam Beard is a “bit banged up” according to the head coach Wayne Pivac, so Cory Hill, who impressed and scored off the bench against England, starts and Jake Ball is set to win his 50th cap off the bench. With victories
