As the grueling quarantine period got over, World No.1 Novak Djokovic hit the beach to beat the blues ahead of the 2021 Australian Open. With only five hours allowed outside the hotel room over the last 2 weeks in isolation, Djokovic seemed in a mood to unwind.

Novak Djokovic footvolley skills

The 17-time Grand Slam champion uploaded an Instagram video, playing footvolley with his friends on a picturesque beach. Djokovic tried to impersonate the footvolley skills of Teqball world champion, Natalia Guitler, and football legend, Ronaldinho, by going for a header shot. However, in an epic fail, the ball hit the net with Djokovic falling down, which made his friends burst out in laughter.

“This was an attempt to do something similar to what @nataliaguitler and @ronaldinho are doing but it obviously didn’t work.” Djokovic captioned the post and added many laughing emojis.

Interestingly, Teqball star Natalia commented on the hilarious video and funnily wrote that she was firm Djokovic could soon become a professional footvolley player.

“I bet that in 1 month you will become a footvolley professional too! 😂👊🏻🏆” commented Natalia Guitler.

Basking in the sun and enjoying a game of footvolley, Djokovic was celebrating the freedom after two weeks in quarantine. The Serbian pulled out of the “Day in the Drive” exhibition event yesterday, citing a blistered right hand. However, after his replacement Filip Krajinovic won the first set against Jannik Sinner, Djokovic appeared on the court to play the second set and enthralled the crowd.

Next up, Djokovic will lead Team-Serbia at the 2021 ATP Cup, which starts on Sunday. Last year, at the inaugural ATP Cup, Djokovic defeated arch-rival, Rafael Nadal, in the final and led Serbia to the title. With just over a week left for the Australian Open, Djokovic will aim to gain match fitness as he eyes a record 9th title at Melbourne Park.
