Trio of Freshmen Lead Women’s Golf Tuesday

The Harding women’s golf team shot 309 as a team in the second round of the UCM Southern Invitational to move into third, trailing host Central Missouri and Central Oklahoma by 11 and 10 strokes, respectively. Harding had the second-best team round behind Central Oklahoma, who shot 307.

Three freshmen led the Lady Bisons Monday, all improving on their first-round scores. Alicia Martinez shot a 5-over 77, and Brenda Sanchez shot a 7-over 79 to move into a tie for tenth. JoJo Perry shot 12 strokes better in round two, finishing the day with a 3-over 75.

Sophomore Abbey Bryan moved into a tie for 25th after a 6-over 78 in Round 2. Senior Kiera Smith finished her round with an 11-over 83 and is tied for 25th.

Individual competitor Kodie Winnings shot an 8-over 80 to move into a tie for 17th along with Perry.

The Lady Bisons will finish their first tournament of the year on Tuesday with the third and final round teeing off at 9:00 a.m.
