Merry Christmas Kansas basketball fans! Here are three things every Jayhawk would love to have from this 2020-21 basketball season.
So far, the Jayhawks are off to a fantastic start this season. They’ve won eight games in a row, and they’re looking like they should be able to contend with Baylor for a Big 12 title. It’s the season of giving, and every Kansas basketball fans’ wishlist should have these three things on it.
1. A Big 12 Championship
Of course, every Kansas basketball fan wants the Jayhawks to bring home the Big 12 title. They’ll have to compete with an elite Baylor team for it, but don’t sell the Jayhawks short. With the emergence of Jalen Wilson, this team has an elite scorer and rebounder who’s playing like an All-American.
Kansas is 2-0 in conference play so far, and they’ll have a tough matchup with a Texas team that’s ranked in the top 10. Knowing Bill Self, he’ll have the Jayhawks ready to play after the long break, not to mention the fact that Self has had Shaka Smart’s number since he went to Texas.
2. A Final Four
This is the goal every season at Kansas, and this year is no different. The Jayhawks have a great chance at landing a No. 1 seed or at least a 2 come March Madness, which should benefit them in the tournament. With a combination of strong three-point shooting and defense, it’s very easy to see this squad making a run in the tournament.
3. An undefeated season at Allen Fieldhouse
In the past two seasons, Kansas has only lost one game in Allen Fieldhouse. Things are going to be a little bit different this year with a reduced capacity, meaning that the usual 16,300 fans won’t be there to bring the energy. The Jayhawks already have two big-time wins at home, and they’ll need a few more against Texas, Baylor, and Texas Tech to secure the undefeated season in Lawrence.
