Scoring error results in Liberty and Parkland boys tennis sharing EPC title

The Parkland boys tennis team isn’t the sole owner of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference championship after all.

Due to a calculation error in point totals for the EPC tournament, the Trojans ended up tied with Liberty for first place.

“After an error was found in the tournament scoring system, we reviewed the brackets and re-calculated the point totals between Parkland and Liberty,” Allen athletic director Randy Atiyeh said. “It has been confirmed that Liberty did in fact earn 1 more additional tournament point to their total. That 1 point total puts Parkland and Liberty at an even 24 point tie and creating a Co-Champion Scenario. Congratulations to both Liberty and Parkland on their championship level performance during the EPC Tennis Tournament.”

The teams will also go down as co-champions for the conference’s regular season title. Liberty and Parkland both finished undefeated in the regular season and a tie in the tournament standings leads them to sharing the championship.
