School sports recap: St. Mary’s women’s hockey wins CCL Cup

St. Mary’s sophomore Jenna Chaplain scored three goals – two of them within 10 seconds – to help the Spartans’ women’s hockey team to a 3-2 win over undefeated Matignon in the final of the CCL Cup on Saturday evening. Maggie Pierce added two assists in the win.
“It was just a great way for us to end the year,” said St. Mary’s coach Frank Pagliuca. “It’s quite rare that you manage to achieve a victory, and it was great for our seniors to be able to experience that. It was an exciting game with a great tournament atmosphere, and we had to work really hard to get the win.
