Head coach: Steve Myhro (22nd season)

2019 season: The Spartans placed eighth in the Big Nine and 10th in Section 1AAA. Roisin Haslam and Ishika Gopal qualified for the final round of the section meet.

Key golfers: The Spartans’ top four entering the season are Roisin Haslam, Maddie Bishop, Avery Meyer and Hannah Boardman. The remaining varsity spots are up for grabs among a fairly large group of young golfers. Only four golfers on this year’s team have varsity experience.

Coach Myhro says: “We hope to finish in the top half of our conference. The girls have been working hard in some typical Minnesota spring weather. It’s a great year to have the girls get some experience playing competitive golf and building for next year. Honestly, I’m just happy we are able to have a season this year.”

Meet the Spartans: Seniors — Hannah Boardman, Anna Boxrud, Catherine Crockett, Roisin Haslam. Juniors — Alissa Atherton, Madison Bishop, Carolyn Jones, Ellen Bonacci, Cecilia Kuzniewski, Sophia Martinez-Fervenza, Emily Medes, Olivia Nelson. Sophomores — Olivia Boxrud, Ellery Collins. Freshmen — Avery Meyer, Claire Nelson, Ana Vankoeverden. Eighth-graders — Shannon Graf. Seventh-graders — Flora Bolster, Clara Dahl, Whitney Leimbeck.

LOURDES EAGLES

Head coach: Kevin Coughlin

Key golfers: Returning senior captains are Ali Branca and Sydney Elliott, and Ellie Leise is also a returning varsity player. Jane Spading and Sadie Johnston are varsity newcomers who will challenge for big roles. Sophia Turja Hubbard and Rachel Tauferner will also battle for spots in the lineup.

Coach Coughlin says: “The girls are looking forward to having another fun and competitive season. Losing last season was difficult for the players but they are really working hard on their overall game to make up for the lost time. Their willingness to put in the hard work on the practice range is key to the programs overall growth.”

Meet the Eagles: Seniors — Ali Branca, Sydney Elliott, Jane Spading. Sophomores — Sophia Turja Hubbard, Sadie Johnston, Anna Baudhuin, Kaylee Drew. Freshmen — Ellie Leise, Rachel Tauferner. Junior high — Erin Karau, Kari Faubion.

JOHN MARSHALL ROCKETS

Head coach: Andy Ollenburg

2019 season: The Rockets placed fourth in Section 1AAA and sophomore Maren Aikens qualified for the state meet. She was the first JM girls golfer to do so since 2011.

Key golfers: Maren Aikens (2019 state-meet qualifier, Augsburg commit), Hannah Selig (U of M-Morris commit), Ava Fevold and Emmy Mueller were all on the 2019 team that placed fourth in the section. Olivia Gorden gives the Rockets five golfers with varsity experience.

Coach Ollenburg says: “It feels so good to have a season. It’s nice to get back to our happy place. There are some girls just out to learn the game and have fun, and they’re all happy to be back out here as a team and have fun again. It gives them a place where they can be with teammates and have a good time.”

Meet the Rockets: Seniors — Maren Aikens, Rochelle Burke, Cassidy George, Sydney Ingham, Emmy Mueller, Chloe Partridge, Hannah Selig, Reese Sprow, Maddie Thompson. Juniors — Olivia Gorden, Ava Haglund, Maddie Thompson. Sophomores — Ava Fevold, Xan Frei, Julia Kampmeier. Freshmen — Bailey Glandon, Torrey Sears, Addyson Timpane. Eighth-graders — Claire Bogenrief, Emily Day. Seventh-graders — Elsie Atwood.

CENTURY PANTHERS

Head coach: Aaron Berg

2019 season: Century placed sixth in Section 1AA, led by Shelby Leitz’s 24th-place effort. The Panthers placed third in the Big Nine.

Key golfers: Shelby Leitz and Jasmine Skedsvold are back as consistently strong varsity golfers. Skedsvold gained varsity experience in Maryland before joining Century last year. Coach Berg said juniors Jordan Hunter, Nora Novak and Mya Benike will provide additional leadership and consistent play.

Coach Berg says: “It is good to be out on the course with the girls after losing last year’s season. Due to 2019 and 2020 graduations and missing the 2020 season we really lack varsity experience. The younger girls are showing a lot of promise and we look for this to be a real season of growth and improvement.”

Meet the Panthers: Seniors — Shelby Leitz, Jasmine Skedsvold. Juniors — Jordan Hunter, Nora Novak, Mya Benike. Sophomores — Steda Lundak. Freshmen — Briar Daire, Alivia Lancaster, Elizabeth Youngman. Eighth-graders — Kasey Morrissey, Josephine Weber. Seventh-graders — Avery Benike, Ruby Novak.
