Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings: Live updates, time, TV channel, how to watch free live stream online

Carmelo Anthony has had more than his share of struggles through 10 games this season for the Portland Trail Blazers.

He is shooting just 40.2% from the field. His play on defense, as it has been much of his career, remains sketchy.

But with a game on the line, he remains a weapon that the Blazers (6-4) have no reservations about turning to. And for good reason. Take Monday against Toronto night for example.

Anthony made just 1 of 7 shots in the first half of the team’s 112-111 win over the Raptors. However, that didn’t prevent Stotts from leaning on him in the fourth quarter.

“He’s kind of built for that type of game,” Stotts said. “He understands it and he enjoys the moment.”

Stotts’ faith paid off. Anthony, 36, scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, including eight in the final four minutes. The 10-time All-Star also blocked a shot in the final minutes.

“If there’s anything that we know he can do, it’s put the ball in the basket,” Portland guard Damian Lillard said. “Obviously, he’s adjusting to a new role coming off the bench for the first time in his career, and you know finding your rhythm and finding his stride sometimes is a little bit harder.”

Anthony has said since training camp that coming off of the bench would require an adjustment on his part. So, maybe the best is yet to come. But what he is providing right now is a scoring threat capable of getting hot in the blink of an eye.

Despite his weak overall shooting percentage, Anthony is shooting 41% from three-point range.

“Shooters shoot,” Anthony said.

Be sure to check back later and during the game for updates.

Still awaiting word on the status of center Jusuf Nurkic, who had been listed as questionable for Wednesday night’s game at Sacramento with a quad injury.
