Playing XI, Pitch Report & Injury Update – Sri Lanka tour of West Indies, 1st Test

West Indies are expected to win this match.

Match Details:

The first Test of the two-match Test series between West Indies and Sri Lanka will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, starting from 21st March.

The match is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM local time and 7:30 PM IST and it will be streamed live on Fancode.

It seems as if there is no end to misery for the Sri Lankan cricket team. They picked a side with the right mixture of youth and experience for their tour of the Caribbean, but things haven’t gone their way so far. After losing 2-1 in the T20I series, they suffered a series defeat in the 50-over format as well.

Now, it is time to turn their attention to the longest format of the game. Test cricket is certainly not West Indies’ forte, but after what they managed to achieve against Bangladesh with a rookie squad, they will go into this series as the obvious favourites.

WI vs SRI Weather Report for 1st Test:

There is no prediction of rain for all five days of the Test match. It will be cloudy in the first two days, but the temperature will flare up after that. It will hover between 23 to 28 °C.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Sir Vivian Richards Stadium has hosted eight Test matches so far, where 3 matches ended in a draw. Home side West Indies have won 3 and lost 2 matches on this venue. Fast bowlers have an excellent record bowling on this venue, while the surface will definitely test batsmen’s technique in the first 2 days.
