Aidan D’Urso notched three goals to lead Seton Hall Prep, No. 7 in the NJ.com Top 20, to a 8-1 win over St. Peter’s Prep at Codey Arena in West Orange.
Aaron Rodriguez of St. Peter’s (0-6) made 33 saves on 41 shots faced.
Jake Schunke (6) and Daniel Lynes (1) made a combined seven saves for Seton Hall (1-0-3).
Brendan Waivada of Seton Hall opened the game in the first period off a feed from Daniel Kelly, followed by a goal from Dale Campbell assisted by Ryan Rodrigues, to lift Seton Hall to a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.
Waivada tallied his second goal of the night to open the second period, with D’Urso and Thomas Klochkov assisting. Kelly then notched a goal assisted by Rodrigues to lift Seton Hall’s lead to 4-0.
Jack Fischer put St. Peter’s on the board in the second period with Ryan Wallace assisting.
D’Urso responded with a power-play goal and an even-strength goal to round out the middle frame. Klochkov and Waivada each recorded an assist on both goals.
Kent Bishop tallied a shorthanded goal in the third period to lift Seton Hall to a 7-1 lead, with Owen Waivada and Jake Schunke assisting. D’Urso recorded the hat-trick to close out the game, scoring off a feed from Klochkov.
