New Zealand vs Bangladesh ODI series: Comical last over gifts Daryl Mitchell maiden century off last ball, video highlights
Talk about dream knocks.
Daryl Mitchell had to wait longer than most to make his ODI debut for the Black Caps.
On Friday, the 29-year-old batsman made the most of some precious time in the middle in his third match as he whacked 17 from Mustafizur Rahman’s final over, including two off the final ball, to bring up his century at Basin Reserve, Wellington.
After belting three boundaries off the first three deliveries, Mitchell looked likely to miss the chance to his a maiden international century as he was forced to settle for a single on the fourth legal ball.
That looked all the more likely as Mitchell Santner smashed a ball into the deep from the fifth delivery. But the duo scampered home for a third run, leaving Mitchell to face the final ball.
Despite being served a straight full-toss, Mitchell failed to get a hold of it but some woeful fielding in the deep and a fumble from wicket-keeper Liton Das saw him complete his second run.

Mitchell’s century was the second of the innings, after Devon Conway continued his rich vein of form from the Australian T20 series as he also carved out a maiden century to help fire New Zealand to 6-318.
In reply, Bangladesh is in all sorts of trouble at 7-102 after 32 overs as they try to take something out of the three-match ODI series.
