The Brazilians confirmed the arrival of the young defender from Maritzburg United on a five-year deal at the weekend as Downs raced against time to get him registered for the CAF Champions League squad.
Mngqithi was asked for his thoughts on having the 25-year old on board.
“We know what he is capable of, technically for me he is one of the best in the country,” the coach told journalists.
“In my mind I think he will also play as a very good No.6 and I have spoken to him about that because one wants to have players that will have multi-functional abilities. As a centreback we know what he can offer. But in my mind I strongly believe he will also make a very strong No.6 and that’s why it was important to bring a player like him that can be a cover for both centreback and central midfield. He is going to play a major role.”
De Reuck is not expected to immediately be involved in the matchday squad as he settles to his new surroundings having gone through a rigorous medical assessment before putting pen to paper at the end of the month.
