BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Navy women’s golf team and Richmond freshman Rory Weinfurther learned their NCAA Division I Regional Championships destinations on Wednesday afternoon when the NCAA announced it during the selection show GOLF Channel.
The Mids captured their first Patriot League title to earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Regional Championships. Navy will be the No. 18 seed in the Stanford Regional at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. from May 10-12. The Mids compete in a field that will include Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, USC, Virginia Tech, host Stanford, Arizona, Florida, Northwestern, Iowa State, Denver, TCU, San Diego State, Pepperdine, San Jose State, New Mexico State, Cal Poly and Sacramento State. Six individual players will also join the field at Stanford, including Samantha Fuller (UNL V), Brigitte Thibault (Fresno State), Allysha Mae Mateo (Brigham Young), Brittany Shin (Cal State Fullerton), Holland Shourds (Long Beach State – Big West Conference), Victoria Estrada (Utah Valley -Western Athletic Conference).
Richmond freshman Rory Weinfurther will be one of six individuals joining the 18-team field at the Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, from May 10-12. Leah Onosato (Old Dominion), Monika Hartl (NC State), Nicole Adam (North Carolina), Samantha Vodry (High Point), Maria Loza (Hartford – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) join Weinfurther along with Duke, Arizona State, Virginia, Kent State, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Clemson, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Illinois, New Mexico, Nebraska, Washington, Coastal Carolina, Campbell, Evansville and Youngstown State.

Coming off their Patriot League Championship this past weekend, the Navy women’s golf team was selected to compete in the Stanford Regional. The regional tournament takes place at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. from May 10-12. This marks the Midshipmen’s first appearance in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships in the program’s ninth season.

WEINFURTHER HEAED TO COLUMBUS NCAA REGIONAL

The next step in Spiders freshman Rory Weinfurther’s season will take her to Columbus, Ohio. Weinfurther, who won the individual title at the Patriot League Championship on Sunday, is one of six individuals headed to the NCAA Regionals at The Ohio State University Golf Club, the NCAA announced on Wednesday. In addition to the six individuals, 18 teams will compete in Columbus on May 10-12, with the top 12 teams and three individuals advancing to the NCAA National Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. on May 21-26.
In Columbus, Weinfurther will be competing against an accomplished field of individuals that includes four golfers ranked in the top 150 in GolfStat’s NCAA Player Rankings and Hartford’s Maria Loza, the champion of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
