Mountain West Tennis Players of the Week – March 18
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State’s Carolina Millan has been named MW Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Boise State’s Simon Arca Costas is the MW Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. This is the second career weekly honor for Millan and Arca Costas.
WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CAROLINA MILLAN, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico
- Combined for a 4-0 week in a pair of victories over Weber State and Idaho State.
- Clinched the Aggies win against Weber State with a straight-sets victory at the No. 1 singles position, winning 6-0, 7-6 (7-5).
- Also against the Wildcats, paired with Annaliese County to post a 6-3 win at the third doubles position.
- Against Idaho State, notched a three-set victory at the top singles position and an easy 6-2 win at the No. 3 doubles spot.
MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SIMON ARCA COSTAS, BOISE STATE
Sophomore, Vigo, Spain
- Led Boise State to a pair of road wins last weekend, defeating UC San Diego (4-0) and San Diego State (4-0) in its Mountain West opener.
- Combined for a 3-1 week, going undefeated in singles play at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, while going 1-1 one the Broncos’ No. 1 doubles team.
- In the Broncos’ victory over UCSD, teamed with Blake Bayldon to win at the No. 1 doubles spot and record the first of two doubles wins needed to earn the team point for Boise State.
- Then in singles, registered a dominating 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 to push the Broncos to 3-0 lead and within one point of the team win.
- In the Conference opening win at San Diego State, recorded the match-clinching victory 6-3, 6-3 over SDSU’s Rafael Gonzalez at No. 3 singles.
