A cricket fan from Australia has become a viral sensation for an extraordinary moment that lasts little more than a second.
The bloke was a spectator at a Big Bash League game when he managed to catch a match ball one-handed without spilling a drop of his beer in his other hand.
The moment was caught on television camera and replayed several times to heap praises on the man. The clip has now gone viral on social media.
Perth Scorchers’ Ashton Turner hit it over the point boundary and the ball came zooming towards the man identified as Tom.
Tom, with a glass of beer in his left hand, caught the ball. And because he didn’t spill his beer, the other spectators cheered for him. Soon, he found fame on social media as well.
The official Twitter handle of Big Bash league posted the video with the caption: “What a catch from Old Mate! He’s just SO casually pouched this without a worry in the world.”
“Turner does it again. Nice work in the crowd too. He did not spill a drop. Old mate in the Patagonia shirt went down,” commentator Mark Howard describes the moment.
If one looks at the action replay closely, another man is seen leaping for the ball but Tom puts his arm out and takes it comfortably.
The catch earned him an interview with Channel 7 after the match.
“I used to be but my dad is better than me so I gave up early. An untapped talent at cricket, I only came here to drink a few beers and the ball came my way and I snapped it up,” he said.
