This, perhaps, has given Jammu & Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) enough confidence to send out a proposal to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to host the Santosh Trophy for North Zone and Under-19 nationals in the state.
Gearing up for a restart, the AIFF had recently sent out a letter to its member units inviting proposals to host the Santosh Trophy and other annual national tournaments.
Like many sports bodies in India trying to get back on their feet, the AIFF too is planning to use whatever window is available this season.
With the AIFF opening the door for Santosh Trophy, the JKFA is keen to use the opportunity to get into action.
“We have sent our reply to the AIFF. We have asked for giving us hosting rights of North Zone Santosh Trophy and also entire
AIFF secretary Kushal Das, however, told Mirror, “Till date we’ve not received any such proposal from the unit. We are yet to decide on the dates for the Santosh Trophy. It is only after the dates are decided that we will look at the proposals sent by the units,” Das said.
Asked whether Jammu & Kashmir’s proposal will be considered as and when AIFF receives it, Das said, “We will see all proposals that come before us. The venue will be picked only after a thorough review.”
