The speculation of Haas’ second driver seat and the future of Mick Schumacher has now ended. The American outfit have officially announced the arrival of the young Ferrari junior, and he will now drive for the team in the 2021 season.
Speaking to the team’s website, Schumacher said, “The prospect of being on the Formula 1 grid next year makes me incredibly happy and I’m simply speechless.”
The 21-year-old continued and said, “I would like to thank Haas F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari Driver Academy for placing their trust in me.
“I also want to acknowledge and extend my love to my parents – I know that I owe them everything. I have always believed that I would realize my dream of Formula 1.”
‘Schumi Junior’ was always a strong candidate to make the step up from the Ferrari Academy, despite the likes of Callum Ilott and Robert Shwartzman being real contenders for an F1 seat. However, the Haas management has now picked the F2 title contender to further his progress in the premier motorsport division.

The team boss continued and said, “I firmly believe he’s earned the opportunity to graduate into Formula 1 based on his performances. We have an opportunity ahead of us, as a team, to evaluate and nurture a new driver given our familiarity with our race package heading into 2021.”
Mick has enjoyed a good career in junior racing levels so far
Ever since his emergence in the F2 championship this season, people in the F1 community have been discussing him. With strong performances driving for Prema Powerteam, he will now have the chance of showing his mettle at the biggest stage.
There were brief rumors about Mick Schumacher partnering Kimi Raikkonen at Alfa Romeo. Following the team’s confirmation of their existing combination, Haas remained Mick’s only option.
Mick will now follow the footsteps of his legendary father Michael Schumacher and uncle Ralf Schumacher. Needless to say, there will certainly be a lot of expectations from the 21-year-old German.
