Homestand continues Saturday for Memphis women’s basketball

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women’s basketball team will host Alabama on Saturday, December 19th at 2 p.m. CT at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse for its fourth consecutive home game. The matchup between the Tigers and the Crimson Tide will be available to stream on ESPN+. The two teams last met in 2011 when the Crimson Tide defeated the Tigers 80-69 at the Coleman Coliseum.

Memphis heads into the Saturday matchup coming off a 65-58 loss to No. 23/24 South Florida. The Tigers led 20-16 at the conclusion of the first quarter and went on to come back from a 13-point deficit in the third quarter, but ultimately foul trouble and late game fatigue kept Memphis from overtaking the Bulls.
Senior Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu led the way for the Tigers with 20 points and 14 rebounds, her fourth consecutive double-double. The only other Tiger with double-digit scoring against the Bulls was Alana Davis. She totaled 14 points and two rebounds.
A Look at Alabama
Alabama is coming off an 86-46 win against Nicholls State. Against the Colonels, Jasmine Walker netted her 1,000th career point and led the Crimson Tide offensively with 21 points. She was joined in double-digit scoring by Keyara Jones (17) and Allie Craig Cruce (10). Walker is the 30th member of Alabama’s 1,000 Point Club, which she entered in under three full seasons. She also finished with a game-high 11 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season and 13th of her career.
