Hartford Hawks Athletics – Valley Resigns as Head Women’s Basketball Coach

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – University of Hartford Interim Athletic Director Maria Feeley has announced that Morgan Valley has resigned as head women’s basketball coach on Wednesday. Valley will be returning to her alma mater, the University of Connecticut, as an assistant coach.
“I thank Morgan for everything she has done over the past two seasons to rebuild our women’s basketball program,” said Feeley. “While I am sad to see Morgan leave, I understand her desire to return to her alma mater, where she was a four-year member of a team that appeared in four Final Fours and won three NCAA Division I National Championships. We wish her the best.”
During her two seasons at Hartford, Valley helped to stabilize and rebuild a women’s basketball program that was depleted when she arrived by graduation and transfers.
“I was not planning on leaving Hartford until I received the call from UConn,” said Valley. “I will forever be grateful to the University of Hartford, which will always have a special place in my heart. The Athletic Department is full of amazing coaches and staff, and I want to thank our Athletic Director, Maria Feeley, for all of her support during my time at Hartford. While I know Hartford will build upon the recent success of the men’s basketball team, which just had its first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history, I am beyond grateful that the opportunity to return to UConn presented itself. This is a dream come true.”
Valley also noted that the women’s basketball program and its student-athletes will be in great hands under the leadership of the current remaining coaching staff.
