Hartford Hawks Athletics – Men’s Golf Ties for Fourth at Saint Peter’s Invitational

BRANCHBURG, N.J.. — The Hartford men’s golf team opened its spring season tied for fourth place at the Saint Peter’s Invitational, held at Fox Hollows Golf Club on Monday. Graduate student Elias Gross and senior Matthew Schwab led the Hawks, shooting 3-over 73 for the day, tying for sixth place.

TOURNAMENT NOTES & HARTFORD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Gross and Schwab both shot 3-over 73 to tie for sixth place
  • Gross scored five birdies on the afternoon, including four in the front nine
  • Hartford’s third finisher was senior Ryan Tomaso, who shot 9-over 79 to tie for 36th
  • Sophomore Manuel Romero tied for 42nd after shooting 10-over 80
  • Sophore Alex Buchanan rounded out Hartford’s scoring with 18-over 88
  • Bryant edged Fairleigh Dickinson and Fairfield by two strokes (300) to take home the team title
  • Fairfield’s Jason Salameno earned medalist honors after shooting a 1-under 69 (67-71-67)

The Hawks will be back in action on Monday, March 22, when they play host to the Hartford/Blackledge Invitational, held at the Blackledge Country Club.
