Harding Men’s Golf Places Eighth in Battle for the Belt

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Harding men’s golf struggled in the third round of the Battle for the Belt, a golf tournament hosted by Henderson State University on the Arlington course at the Hot Springs Country Club.

Harding entered the third round tied for sixth but shot 315 and fell to eighth in the 10-team competition. The Bisons finished 67 over at 931. Arkansas Tech won the event at 858.

Freshman Sam Tandy finished first among Harding’s five golfers, shooting 12-over 228 to finish tied for 20th.

Santiago De La Fuente of Arkansas Tech won by 3 strokes, shooting 6 under 210.

Harding sophomore Caleb Nichols shot 231 and tied for 25th. Junior Trevor Mellott tied for 31st at 233. Junior Jake Croshaw tied for 41st at 240, and freshman Wilf Rush placed 48th at 243.

The Battle for the Belt was Harding’s third tournament of the spring. The Bisons are back in action March 15-16 at the Broncho Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma.
