Halftime Rewind: Pacers 59, 76ers 51 (Preseason)

Halftime Rewind

Back in action at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the first time in nine months, the Pacers took a 59-51 lead over the Philadelphia 76ers into halftime on Friday night in their final preseason game.

Philadelphia jumped out to an early 11-6 lead behind three buckets from Dwight Howard, but Indiana responded with an 11-0 run to surge in front.

Victor Oladipo led Indiana’s offensive charge in the first quarter, scoring 10 points in the first eight minutes with a pair of 3-pointers and a couple of layups in transition.

The two teams traded the lead six times in the opening frame. Indiana had a two-point following rookie Cassius Stanley’s dunk in the final minute, but Tony Bradley’s layup on the other end made it a 28-28 tie after the one.

The 76ers opened the second quarter with a 12-4 run. Nate Bjorkgren then subbed his starting five back in and they reeled off a 16-2 run. Domantas Sabonis scored eight points over that span and the Blue & Gold held Philadelphia to just one field goal over a 5:26 span.

Indiana led by as many as nine points before halftime and took a 59-51 advantage into the break.

Sabonis led all scorers with 18 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds in the first half. Oladipo added 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting (3-of-6 from 3-point range) and two steals, while Malcolm Brogdon tallied 10 points, five boards, and four assists.

Howard led Philadelphia with 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting, while Ben Simmons added nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
