Girls basketball roundup: Montevideo falls 71-65 at Redwood Valley

REDWOOD FALLS — The Montevideo girls basketball team fell just short of clinching its first winning season in four years on Monday.
The Thunder Hawks suffered a 71-65 defeat at Redwood Valley. The non-conference loss dropped their record to 8-3.
The Cardinals entered halftime up 38-29.
Montevideo next plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dawson-Boyd. The Thunder Hawks have six regular-season games left.

Maple Lake snapped a three-game losing streak following a Central Minnesota Conference home win over Paynesville.
In CMC play, the Irish improved to 2-7 while the Bulldogs dropped to 4-6. Maple Lake helped its cause with a 23-17 halftime lead.
Paynesville next plays Holdingford at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in Paynesville.
