A man whose body was found buried in a makeshift grave two weeks after he was allegedly stabbed was an “excellent sportsman” and a “very intelligent man”, says a grieving friend.
Martin Orme Berry’s remains were discovered on Wednesday in the backyard of a property he owned in Papanui, Christchurch, after a woman suspected of being the kitchen hand Rena Maloney contacted the police and told them he had been buried there.
Maloney, also known as the Joyce family, was charged with murder later in the day.
