Frank Lampard’s Chelsea pay off amount if Roman Abramovich decides to axe boss

Frank Lampard would take home a huge pay-off if Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich decides to sack the boss.

The Blues manager saw his side conceded humiliating 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at home, dropping to ninth in the Premier League table.

It means that the London side have only won one league game in their last six, five places worse off than they were after 17 games last season.

And this comes after a summer of £220million in transfers, bringing in players such as Timo Werner who struggled against Pep Guardiola’s team.

This has seen calls for Lampard’s sacking grow among the Stamford Bridge faithful, with reports emerging of the club starting to look elsewhere.

But The Sun have reported that the Blues boss would still be taking something hefty home from his stint at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard has 18 months left on his current Chelsea deal, which sees him receive £77,000 per week.

And this would mean there is still £3million left, which Abramovich would have to pay out.

While it would leave a bitter taste in the manager’s mouth, it would also leave the Russian’s wallet feeling a lot lighter when it comes to paying Blues bosses off.

The run of poor form has put the manager's position under pressure, with Abramovich spending £110.5million on sacking 10 of the 11 previous bosses

The owner had seen 11 managers take the helm at Stamford Bridge and leave it since buying the club from Ken Bates in 2003.

But only one of them has been able to leave on their own terms, with Maurizio Sarri departing in June 2019 for his dream job at Juventus.

All of the other managers, including three-time league winner Jose Mourinho, have been paid off.

The biggest single fee went to Antonio Conte as the Blues had to pay £9m in compensation, which rose to £26.6m when his backroom staff were also cut.

While Mourinho picked up £31.4m over his two spells at the west London side.

This makes a total expenditure of £110.5m on sacking managers by Abramovich, which wouldd rise to £113.5m if Lampard is shown the door.

It comes as Chelsea’s history with managers saw Roy Keane send a warning to Lampard.
