DStv Premiership

Result: Baroka FC 2-1 Black Leopards

Date: 20 February 2021

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Baroka FC leapfrogged Kaizer Chiefs into eighth place on the DStv Premiership standings after defeating Limpopo rivals Black Leopards 2-1 on Saturday evening.

Bakgaga recalled shot-stopper Oscarine Masuluke, Phelelani Shozi and Thamsanqa Masiya while Leopards brought back Sibusiso Khumalo and Roderick Kabwe.

The sides were going at each other in the early stages, with no clear chances created but Rodney Ramagalela came close for Lidoda Duvha in the 25th minute with a strike on the right of the box that sailed over the bar after he was teed up by Ovidy Karuru.

Kgodiso Monama had a chance to break the deadlock for Matsimela Thoka’s charges ten minutes before the break after receiving a cross in a good position inside the box but his strike towards the bottom corner was saved by goalkeeper Rotshidzwa Muleka.

Baroka had a bright start to the second stanza as they got the breakthrough on the hour-mark after Kenneth Nthatheni deflected Goodman Mosele’s shot into his own net.

Joslin Kamatuka quickly doubled the lead for Bakgaga five minutes later with a strike into the bottom corner from a quick counter-attack.

Nthatheni redeemed himself and gave Leopards hope of at least salvaging a point after pulling a goal back in the last seven minutes but Baroka held on to a 2-1 win that saw them leapfrog Chiefs while Lidoda Duvha lost their fifth straight match in the league.
