Indian speed merchant Jasprit Bumrah tied the wedding knot with sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan in a private ceremony on Monday. Team India’s numero uno and Mumbai Indians (MI) superstar was earlier in speculations about getting hitched to the sports anchor ever since the ace cricketer opted to pull out of the white-ball series between Virat Kohli-led side and England due to personal reasons. Putting an end to the never-ending wedding rumours, Bumrah and Sanjana reportedly exchanged wedding vows in Goa yesterday (March 15).

Sharing a couple of adorable photos from their hush-hush ceremony on social media, the celebrity couple declared the date March 15 as one of the happiest days of their lives. “Steered by love, we have begun a new journey together. Today is one of the happiest days of our lives and we feel blessed to be able to share the news of our wedding and our joy with you. Jasprit & Sanjana,” the newlyweds captioned their posts on social media.

Interestingly, Team India superstar Bumrah is not the only cricketer to have fallen in love with a sports anchor. Having said that, let’s take a quick look at some of the famous players of the gentlemen’s game who were bowled over by sports presenters.

Martin Guptill

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill is married to Laura McGoldrick who is a sports presenter at a popular channel. The New Zealand star opener married the love of his life in 2014. The swashbuckling batsman of the Black Caps and sports broadcaster Laura tied the knot in Auckland. The popular radio host and Kiwi opener welcomed their second child in February 2021. Before the birth of their son Theodore (Teddy) James Guptill, Laura and Martin were blessed with a baby girl in 2017.

Ben Cutting

In February 2021, Australia all-rounder Ben Cutting got hitched to his long-time partner Erin Holland. The couple exchanged their wedding vows at Elements of Byron’s Heart of the Bay. Erin, a former Miss World Australia was engaged to her beau Ben in 2019. The beauty queen-turned-cricket presenter had to postpone her wedding twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a sports presenter, Erin has interviewed her hubby Ben on several occasions. During the 2019 Global T20 Canada, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh had crashed the couple’s interview by asking about their wedding date.

Stuart Binny

Indian cricketer Stuart Binny is married to sports journalist Mayanti Langer since 2012. Mayanti is one of India’s leading anchors in the world of sports. Mayanti and Stuart were blessed with a baby boy last year. Mayanti often takes to social media to celebrate Stuart’s noteworthy accomplishments in the gentlemen’s game. Apart from representing Team India in 6 Tests, 14 ODIs and 3 T20Is, Mayanti’s husband Stuart has also featured for the likes of Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Shane Watson

Shane Watson is one of the most decorated cricketers across all formats of the gentlemen’s game. The Australian all-rounder and 2015 World Cup winner reportedly met his better-half Lee Furlong in 2006. Four years later, the former Australian all-rounder tied the knot with the television presenter in June 2010. Besides her sports anchoring career, Watson’s wife also served as the ambassador of the McGrath Foundation. The couple has a son and daughter named – William Watson and Matilda Victoria Watson.
