Cowboys finish 5th at SLC Men’s Golf Championships

McKINNEY, Texas – McNeese Cowboy golf finished the season on a high note, shooting its best round of the 2021 Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championships in the final one as the Cowboys’ 299 score lifted them two spots to finish fifth in the team rankings with a three-round score of 922.
 
Jack Hearn closed out his McNeese career leading the Cowboys on the day with a 1-over par 73 while Reid Giardina, who topped the leaderboard for McNeese by finishing in a tie for 17th place, shot a 3-over 75.
 
Theo Berger also shot a 75 on the day while Trey Meadows tallied a 76 and Jake Leatherwood an 84.
 
Sam Houston won the team title with a three-round score of 873, beating out Lamar (883) by 10 strokes. Abilene Christian placed third with an 886 and HBU was fourth with a 908 followed by McNeese.
 
Sam Houston’s Paul Chaplet held of Nikolai Schaffrath of Lamar to win the individual title by one stroke as he finished with a 213.
