Boys ice hockey: Kuras’ late lifts Rumson-Fair Haven past No. 19 Westfield (PHOTOS)

Michael Kuras scored the go-ahead goal with 5:42 to go in the third period to lift Rumson-Fair Haven to a 3-2 victory over Westfield at the Red Bank Armory.

Kuras’ goal, which was assisted by Braden Spagnuola and Andrew Croddick, came about two minutes after Westfield’s Matteo Mancheno tight the game at 2-2.

James Danielczyk and Ryan Croddick, who scored on a power play, both found the back of the cage as well for the Bulldogs, which tallied 34 shots in the game. With the win, Rumson improved to 1-0-1 on the young season. Spencer Lee and Brett Pritchard also had assists.

Mancheno recorded an assist as well for the Blue Devils, which suffered their first loss to drop to 4-1-1. Matt Beke knotted the score at 1-1 in the first. Dan McDonald recorded two assists.
