Bell, Chastain, Briscoe — who’s a 2021 breakout?

The Daytona Beach News-Journal

When 2021 becomes 2022, which current off-Broadway racer will be firmly on our radars?

KEN’S CALL: I hope it’s Ross Chastain in Chip Ganassi’s No. 42, but best bet is Christopher Bell in Joe Gibbs’ No. 20. Holding out hope that Corey LaJoie overachieve’s in Spire’s No. 7. Did I name everybody yet?

DEAN’S DIRT: Yep, pretty much. I think the only name you left me with is Chase Briscoe, who’s replacing Clint Bowyer over at Stewart-Haas. There, we covered everyone!

Cue your internal optimist and tell us which race will be the first to run without limited attendance.

KEN’S CALL: Tempted to say mid-June’s All Star Race at Texas, but going with the Fourth of July at Road America in Wisconsin. Sounds like a party to me.

DEAN’S DIRT: It’ll be sometime during the summer (I think), and we all know Florida hasn’t exactly been closed during this pandemic, so I’ll say the regular season finale at Daytona.
