BCCI Invites Applications For Position Of Head Coach For Women’s Cricket Team

Indian Women’s Cricket Team: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now decided to initiate an ‘A’ tours programme for the women’s cricket team. It is also inviting applications for the position of head coach for the team.

This comes after the contract of former India opener WV Raman as coach expired in October last year. However, he was permitted to continue being the coach for the home series match against South Africa.

BCCI application deadline is April 26

The Indian women’s team will travel to England in the month of June for the one-off Test and three T20Is and ODIs, so the BCCI decided on inviting new applications. The deadline for the same is till April 26.

An advertisement circulated by the BCCI says that the new head coach will be coaching the Women’s National Team, Women’s India ‘A’ and Women’s India U-19 team. They will also have to supervise the female cricketers at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) located in Bengaluru.

Besides this, the BCCI is also gearing up to firm a group of junior cricketers as soon as the IPL gets over. Meanwhile, the inaugural U-19 Women’s World Cup postponed to 2022.

“The BCCI apex council is due to meet on April 16 to formulate a strong plan for the development of women’s cricket. It is important to have a good domestic structure to create a big pool of women cricketers,” a spokesperson told TOI.

The Cricket Board is also recruiting for the junior selector position

The cricket board has also released an advertisement for recruiting people for the position of selector in the junior selection committee. The post became vacant after Debashis Mohanty was promoted to the senior national selector in the month of December last year.
