Augustana Women’s Tennis Signs Two-Time South Dakota State Champion
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana head women’s tennis coach Marc Kurtz is pleased to announce the signing of Vanessa Wittenberg to the 2021-22 roster.
Wittenberg, a Rapid City, South Dakota, native, held a 20-6 singles record and a 26-4 record in doubles in her senior season at Stevens High School. In addition, she is South Dakota’s Flight 1 State Champion in 2020 after claiming the flight 3 championship in 2019.
She helped the Raiders to a State AA runner-up performance her senior year.”I’m thrilled to welcome Vanessa to the team for next fall,” Kurtz said. “Vanessa is a strong player who was the South Dakota State Champion this past fall.
“She has a big game with a lot of upsides. Vanessa is very coachable and she will continue to improve as she gets to college. I’m excited to welcome her to our Augustana tennis family next Fall.”
While at Augustana, Wittenberg plans to pursue a degree in biology.
