Augustana Women’s Tennis Preps for Conference Matches

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Augustana women’s tennis team returns to NSIC play with two matches in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Friday. The first match is against Bemidji State and is slated for an 8 a.m. start. The second match of the day comes against Minnesota Crookston at 10:30 a.m.

About the Vikings

Augustana is 10-2 on the season, most recently suffering a loss against a Division I opponent in the College of Charleston, losing 7-0. 

The Sophomore duo in Emily Granson and Aleksandra Kistanova were the lone winners against the Cougars taking No. 3 doubles 7-5.

Two Vikings had close battles taking their matches to the third round in Florentia Hadjigeorgiou in No. 2 singles going 1-6, 6-3, 1-0, and Kistanova in the No. 5 slot going 7-6, 2-6, 1-0.

About the Beavers

Bemidji State was selected to finish sixth in the NSIC Preseason Poll and hold a 4-5 record on the season. Most recently, the Beavers won a match against St. Cloud State winning 6-1. 

Claudie Billand has a record of 6-2 on the season in No.1 singles and is 1-0 when paired with Shaelyn Johnson in No. 1 doubles.

About the Golden Eagles

Minnesota Cookston was tabbed to finish 12th in the NSIC Preseason Poll and are currently 0-9 on the season. Last time out the Golden Eagles lost to Minnesota Duluth, 7-0.
