Ann Arbor-area basketball: Dexter boys roll Jackson with big opening run

ANN ARBOR – There was no waiting to get going for Dexter’s boys basketball team on Tuesday.

The Dreadnaughts jumped out to a 25-0 lead in the first quarter en route to a 69-30 victory over Jackson to secure the season sweep.

Tuesday’s 39-point win over Jackson was Dexter’s largest of the season and the 69 points was the team’s second highest of the year.

Cal Bavineau led Dexter with 17 points, eight assists and three steals, while Evan Haroldson added 14 points. Colin Parachek chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals, Aidan Dexter scored 11 points and Sam Sterlitz recorded 11 rebounds and four blocks.

The Dreadnaughts moved to 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the Southeastern Conference White and will next face Tecumseh on Friday.

Malcolm Clements leads Arbor Prep past Warren Michigan Collegiate

Arbor Prep senior standout Malcolm Clements scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Gators to a 58-53 victory over WMC.

In addition to Clements’ performance, Patrick Kombo chipped in with 12 points as the Gators improved to 8-2 overall.

Arbor Prep is back in action Thursday against Dearborn Henry Ford Academy.

Father Gabriel Richard falls to Howell

FGR was unable to find the offense in Tuesday’s 38-24 loss to Howell.

The Fighting Irish trailed 18-10 at halftime and finished with their lowest point total of the season.

Boomer Reilly led FGR with 10 points, followed by seven points from Russ Schwartz and Carter Bandemer led Howell with 12.

The Fighting Irish fell to 6-6 overall and will try to get back on track against Clarkston Everest Collegiate on Thursday.

Huron beats Saline 40-31

Huron sweeps rival Skyline to move to 10-0

The River Rats used their patented defense to shut down Skyline and improve to 10-0 and pick up the season sweep of their rival.

Huron led 18-13 at halftime and got the offense rolling in the second half to pull away with the victory. Huron also held Skyline to it lowest point total of the year.

Devin Womack paced Huron with 17 points and Jack Williams led Skyline with 10.

The River Rats will look to remain unbeaten when they host Monroe on Thursday, while Skyline (5-4, 4-2 SEC-Red) will look to rebound Thursday against Ann Arbor Pioneer at home.

Whitmore Lake tops Ann Arbor Central Academy behind monster game from Alden Stefanovski

Alden Stefanovski put forth his best performance of the season to help Whitmore Lake defeat Ann Arbor Central Academy.

Stefanovski recorded 21 points and 23 rebounds to lead the Trojans to a 53-29 and pick up their second win in the past three games after opening the year 0-7.

Isaac Brady added 17 points to help the Trojans secure the win to move to 2-8 overall.

Whitmore Lake is scheduled to next face Westland Huron Valley Lutheran on Thursday.
