Alabama Women’s Golf Returns to Action This Weekend at The Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 19th-ranked Alabama women’s golf team will continue its spring season Friday in Athens, Ga., for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The event will be a three-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by the University of Georgia at the University of Georgia Golf Course.

The University of Georgia Golf Course will play as a par-72, 6,287 yards layout. Eighteen holes will be played each day (starting at 8:30 a.m. CT Friday) and an individual and team champion will be crowned Sunday.

 

About Alabama

  • The Crimson Tide finished 10th at the Gamecock Intercollegiate after placing third in the Gators Invitational.
  • UA’s play at the Gators Invitational was highlighted by Benedetta Moresco 2-under par (70-70-74/214) overall tournament score, which placed her tied for third in the field. It was Moresco’s second consecutive top-five finish

Conquering the Course

  • Overall, nine of the 18 teams in the field are ranked in the Top 25 in Golfstat.com Team Rankings including four that are in the top 10
  • Among the 18 participating teams are Arkansas, Auburn, College of Charleston, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. Georgia has two teams competing in this weekend’s tournament.
