Alabama vs. Ohio State score: Live game coverage, College Football Playoff National Championship 2021 updates

No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Ohio State are one quarter through what’s already shaping up to be a fantastic game in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship. Both teams jumped on the board with a touchdown in the first quarter, and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith scored on the first play of the second quarter to give Bama an early 14-7 lead.

The Crimson Tide have converted two fourth downs, including a fourth-and-goal on the game’s first touchdown, a Najee Harris run. However, Justin Fields and the Ohio State offense had a response to that first score that was plenty impressive, marching 75 yards in eight plays with a couple of big completions to Chris Olave and Jeremy Ruckert before Master Teague ran in the game-tying score. Teague’s score comes as Ohio State saw running back Trey Sermon ruled out for the game. The star of the Big Ten Championship Game and a huge piece of the Buckeyes’ win against Clemson was unable raise his left arm and sent to the hospital. Now it’s up to Teague and Fields to carry the load on the ground for the Buckeyes.
