Bad news arrived for new head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program on April 6 with the entrance of junior power forward Kamaka Hepa into the NCAA Transfer Portal. The report arrived this week that Hepa would intend to put his name in the transfer portal this offseason following a complete change in coaching regime within the last two weeks.

Texas has now lost three players to the transfer portal already this offseason after the Hepa news arrived. The other two are senior big man Royce Hamm and sophomore shooting guard Donovan Williams. Texas has also lost the likes of former four-star commits/signees David Joplin and Tamar Bates since the departure of the former sixth-year head coach Shaka Smart.

Back on March 26, Smart bolted from Austin to take the head coaching job with the Marquette Golden Eagles to replace Steve Wojciechowski. That led to the Longhorns hiring the former Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach Beard back on April 1. Texas made Beard one of the highest-paid head coaches in the entire country. Granted he was already paid well at Texas Tech.

Where former Texas basketball transfer Kamaka Hepa goes next?

Hepa is just one of multiple losses that the Longhorns sustained of late. While it’s no guarantee that he will leave the Forty Acres for good this offseason, it’s certainly not likely he’s going to come back. Roster attrition tends to be a usual part of the process with a change in coaching regimes.

With all of this in mind, here’s a look into three potential transfer landing spots for Hepa.
